4 Sources of uniforms

Approval Labels
- Uniforms and accessories sold by Marine Corps supply are considered regulation.
- Non-supply system uniforms must have proper content labeling.

Restrictions
- Members of the Marine Corps, the reserves, or retired personnel shall not wear the uniform while engaged in any of the following activities without specific approval of the Commandant:
- Soliciting funds for any purpose from the public outside of a military base.
- Participating in a show or event for advertising puposes.
- "Endorsing" commercial products with the uniform, title, or grade implying military affiliation with such product.
- Demonstrations of any kind.
- Service
- Utility
- Dress
Service Uniforms
- All Marine Are Required to Own a Service "A" Uniform.
- Intended for work and travel.
3 Types of Service Uniforms:
- Service"A"
- Service"B"
- Service"C"
Service "A" is worn on the following occasions:
- When reporting for duty on shore.
- When assigned as a member of a court-martial or board of inquiry.
- When prescribed by the local commander.
- On leave and liberty.
The Male Service "A" Uniform

Regulations for Male Service Coat
- semi formfitting
- 2" free play in chest
- 1" free play in waist
- 1"-2" below crotch
- 3"-4" front overlap
- 1" above large joint (sleeve)
- 2 3/4"-3 3/4" left edge of buckle to belt tip.
Long Sleeve Khaki Shirt

- 2" (1/2) above large joint (sleeve).
- insert index finger at collar.
Proper Wear Of Necktie
- Clip on or hand tied neckties are authorized.
- A gold tie clasp with a silver emblem is worn midway between the third and fourth button.
- Tie should hang to top of belt buckle.
Proper Wear of the Trousers

- full cut
- straight hanging
- no cuffs
- loose at waist
break slightly over shoe (front) - reach welt in rear (1/4' var)
Proper Wear of the Khaki Web Belt
- web belt should be 2"-4"
- gig line

Proper Wear of Men's Shoes
- black shoes
- corfram or leather authorized

Female Service "A" Uniform

- cap

Regulations for Female Service "A"
- 2" overlap in front
- approximately 7" below natural waist line
- approximately 1" above large joint (sleeve)
Proper Wear of Shirt

- Worn outboard of the waistband with either skirt or slacks.
- Exception with duty belt.
Proper Wear of Necktab
- Outer edge parallel to outer edge of collar.
- Equal on each side of the collar.

Proper Wear of Skirt and Slacks
- Skirt
- conventional length and sweep.
- length between 1" above top of knee cap to 1" below bottom of knee cap.
- 2"-3" hem or facing.

- Slacks
- slight break on top of shoe.
- reach welt in rear. (1/2" var)
- 2"-3" hem.
- Skirt/Slacks optional

Female Shoes
- Pumps
- heel height 1"-2 1/2"
- heel width- min: 3/8" x 3/8" max: 1 1/2" x 1 7/8"
- worn with all service and dress uniforms
- don't wear with with slacks

- Oxford
- at least 1/8" high
- worn at formations
- worn when the wearing of pumps is impractical
- with Service uniform skirt only when authorized
- Flats
- optional commercial bought product
- maybe worn with Dress Blue and Service Uniforms
Regulations for the Handbag

- left should or left arm.
- bottom edge of handbag even with bottom edge of dress or service coat.
Service "B"
- Same as "A" except no coat.
- Winter work uniform.
- Authorized for leave and liberty.
- Parades, ceremonies, and uniform of the day.
Service "C"

- Identical to service "B" execpt short sleeve and no necktie/necktab.
- Collar worn open.
Utility Uniform
- The utility uniform is not authorized for leave or liberty.
- It may be worn to and from the domicile but only stops authorized by commanders.

Utility

- Must Match
- No Starch
- Wooly pulley can be worn
- Name/branch tapes mandatory
- Marine Corps emblem on pocket

Utility Markings

PT Uniform Consists of:
- green general purpose trunks.
- green standard t-shirts.
- no distinguished markings on clothing.

- formfitting coat
- stiffened collar
- NOT authorized for leave or liberty.
- dress cap can interchange from green to white
Blue Dress "B"

- identical to blue dress "A" execpt ribbons or ribbons and badges are worn.
- authorixed for leave or liberty.
Male Blue Dress "C"

- same as blue dress "B" except replace coat with khaki long sleeve shirt and tie.
- authorized for leave and liberty.
- worn by MPs, Marines on recruiting duty.
Male Blue Dress"D"

- similar to blue dress "C" except long sleeve shirt and tie are replaced with the khaki short sleeve shirt.
- authorized for leave and liberty.
Female Blue Dress "A"

- dress cap
- black coat
- white shirt
- black skirt/blue slacks
- white gloves
- smoke hose
- black pumps
- large medals(*)
- necktab (scarlet-skirt) (black-slacks)
- clutch purse with black cover or handbag
- NOT for leave and liberty
Female Blue Dress "B"
- Identical to dress blue "A" except ribbons or ribbons and badges replace large medals.
- Authorized for leave and liberty.
Female Blue Dress "C"

- black necktab
- authorized for leave and liberty.
- worn by MPs and Marines on recruiting duty.
Female Blue Dress "D"
- Similar to dress blue "C" execpt long sleeve shirt is replaced with short sleeve khaki shirt.
- No necktab.
- Authorized for leave and liberty.
Male Blue-White Dress"A"

Male Blue-White Dress "B"
- Officers and SNCOs only (Summer Dress)

Other Accessories
Mameluke Sword
- Cut and thrust blade.
- Engraved with United States Marines.
- Blade 7/8" wide.

- Length varies according to height determined by holding sword at the carry position.
- Tip 1" above / below eye level.
Male All Weather Coat

- Authorized for all dress, service, or utility uniforms.
- Extends to point midway between knee and mid-calf.
- Top button is left open.
- Winter service"A" must have black gloves.
- Liner and Green scarf is optional.
- Sleeves of shirt must be covered.
Female All Weather Coat

- Coat must be long enough to reach 1 inch below the bottom of the knee cap.
Tanker Jacket
- College style jacket worn with service B/C, Blue dress C/D, and sweater uniforms.
- Officer and enlisted ranks wear rank insignia on epaulets.
- Zipped above side slash pockets.
- Both AWC and tanker are authorized with civilian clothing.
Dress Blue Sweater
- Blue service sweater worn with blue dress "C".
- Rank on epaulets
- Leave and liberty uniform
Service Sweater
- Wooly pulley- worn with service "B” or "C", utility uniform, or civilian clothes
- khaki shirt outside
Maternity Uniform
- When service uniform no longer fits.
- Issued to enlisted only

Wearing Insignia
- Both collars
- One inch from leading edge of the collar (lower edge), parallel, and centered from left to right.
- Same on long sleeve shirt; however, enlisted personnel wear their rank centered and 1/2" from each edge.
- Candidates, follow above, then add felt patch beneath rank.
- Rank insignia on coat is placed 3/4" from shoulder seam.
