Rifle Safety
- On target ranges, the safest direction to point a gun muzzle is down range or up towards the ceiling.
- It is OK for me to go down range to change targets IF all rifles are grounded, with CBI's inserted, and checked and the Range Officer gives me the instructions to go down range.
- >>DO NOT DO!!!
It is NOT OKAY if I still have a pellet in the barrel of my rile when I finish firing, I don't need to say anythinig to the RAnge Officer, because the action of my rifle is open so the rifle cannot be accidentally fired. << - All personal who handle air rifle pellets should wash their hands immediately after they leave the range.
- All parts of my shooting position and rifle, except the muzzle, must be behind the firing line during firing.
- When I pick up or receive an air rifle from someone else, the first thing I must do is control the muzzle.
- The command STOP means immediately stop attempting to fire anymore shots.
- The most important component part of the rifle safety is the person holding the rifle.
- When a rifle is grounded it must be lying on the floor or mat with its action open and a CBI inserted.
