Flank: right or left side of a unit either or line or in a columnn. - a direction at a right angle to the direction an element of formation is facing.

Depth: the space from head to rear of an element.

( the depth of a man is considered to be 12" )

Front: the place occupied by an element.

Alignment: the dressing of several elements.
- Pace: the length of a full step. quicktime which is 30".
- is measured from the back of one heel to the back of another.
- Step: the distance from heel to heel between marching men.
- quicktime are 30"
- half step and back step are 15"
- Cadence: a rhythimic rate of march at uniform step.
- Slow Time: 60 steps per minute, is used for funnerals.
- Quick Time: cadence at 120 steps per minute.
- Double Time: cadence is 180 steps per minute.
- Mass Formation: formation of a company or larger units.
- Snap: immediate response.
- Voice Control: is key, can't over do it, if not many people. a larger group may call for raising voices.
- Inflection: tone of voice/pitch of voice.
